Datawarehouse: what is it?

A datawarehouse is a BI database. A Datamart is a specific sub-category of datawarehouse limited to a business activity, unit or application. Data are aggregated according to various analysis criteria, such as time, location, author, etc.

Datamart

Datamart is a database which offers easy understanding and an optimized structure for query processes. It includes information coming from all Ennov5 modules, which it reorganizes for ease of access. It keeps track of data over long periods of time so you can compare key business metrics from one year to the other.

Datamart comprises automated query tools to regularly update business metrics and the database itself. Datamart can be accessed and operated by various tools: SQL requests, the Business Objects TM set of tools, or other BI tools such as COGNOS, SAS, etc.

Primarly designed for IT people Datamart allows developers to design custom made applications that will fit internal standards in terms of contents and layout.
